Southbound I-25 Closure in Pueblo this Week
Travel Advisory
Pueblo County — The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contractor partner Work Zone Traffic Control will be removing overhead signage at City Center Drive requiring the full closure of southbound I-25 at 6th Street between midnight and 2 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23.
Traffic Impacts for I-25 in Pueblo
- North- and southbound right shoulder closures on I-25 from MP 98.54 to MP 98.8 on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- North- and southbound right lane closure on I-25 from MP 98.54 to MP 98.8 on Sunday, Dec. 22 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Southbound I-25 will be closed at Sixth Street on Monday, Dec. 23 from midnight to 2 a.m.
- Detour: 6th Street, south on North Santa Fe Avenue to City Center Drive. Travel one block east on City Center Drive to reenter southbound I-25
General Traffic Impacts
Motorists and area residents can expect the following impacts during construction:
- Shoulder and single lane closures within the work zone
- Full closure of southbound I-25 at Sixth Street in Pueblo on Monday, Dec. 23
- Reduced speeds in the work zone will be in place
- Plan ahead and expect delays
- Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
