Intersection Improvement Project set to begin Jan. 6 in Loveland

Dec. 23, 2024 - Northeastern Colorado - Project will occur on US 34 and CO 402

Loveland — The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin intersection improvement work on Jan. 6. Work will occur at two intersections: US Highway 34 and North Van Buren Avenue and Colorado Highway 402 and South Boise Avenue in Loveland. Morton Electric, Inc., is the contractor for this project.

The project will improve traffic flow for motorists and enhance pedestrian safety at crosswalks on North Van Buren Avenue. Work will primarily replace signal poles, mast arms and signal equipment. South Boise Avenue will update mast arm signals from the current signal.

Travel Impacts

  • Daytime work hours range from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Vehicles will be reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic intermittently in either direction throughout the duration of the project.
  • Lane closures and traffic stops guided by flaggers will have up to 15-minute delays.
  • The project is expected to last until the end of March.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
