Dec. 13, 2024 - Southeast Colorado - Improved road surface between Pueblo and Colorado Springs

El Paso County — The Colorado Department of Transportation, with its contract partner Martin Marietta, has completed surface treatment work on Interstate 25 between Pueblo and Colorado Springs. The work took place along I-25 from Mile Point 119 near Wigwam to MP 124.5 at Ray Nixon Road.

“This resurfacing project was a regional priority for CDOT,” said Shane Ferguson, CDOT regional transportation director. “We are pleased that I-25 between Colorado Springs and Pueblo is now improved. A well-maintained roadway is essential for safety for residents, employers and visitors along this busy corridor.”

Contracting partner, Martin Marietta, milled the existing asphalt, paved with new asphalt, installed rumble strips, replaced guardrail, replaced a culvert and performed final striping. The new asphalt will add approximately 10 years of life to the highway, provide a smoother road surface and will add durability. Crews also repaired concrete and replaced the waterproof membrane between the deck and new asphalt on the bridge over I-25 at Old Pueblo Road and Midway Ranch Road.
