US 160 paving operations begin tomorrow at Three Springs Boulevard

August 20, 2024 - Southwestern Colorado - Motorists are encouraged to use the Grandview Interchange to the southwest to avoid delays August 21 and 22

La Plata County - On Wednesday, August 21, the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin two-day surface treatment operations at the intersection of US Highway 160 and Three Springs Boulevard. Motorists can expect slower speeds and lane closures while crews work to pave a short segment of the westbound lanes between Three Springs Boulevard and Davidson Creek Road. CDOT encourages motorists approaching and leaving Mercy Hospital and Three Springs to use the Grandview Interchange (to the southwest) via Wilson Gulch Drive on Wednesday and Thursday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

CDOT crews will work as swiftly as possible to complete the surface treatment; however resurfacing operations are weather dependent.

Traffic Impacts

Daytime work hours will range from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday. Traffic impacts include:

Motorists should plan for lane shifts and brief 5 to 10 minute delays
Vehicles will be guided by flagging personnel and signs
A speed reduction will be enforced through the work zones

Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
