La Plata County - On Tuesday, Sept. 3, crews will conduct survey work along the eastbound lanes of US Highway 160, between Home Depot and the US Highway 550 exit ramp. Motorists traveling eastbound on US 160 (Mile Points 88 to 89) will be reduced to a single lane and should plan for up to 15 minute delays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists are urged to slow down for the safety of the surveyors performing work close to the highway.

This survey work is being conducted in advance of several roadway improvements in conjunction with the US 550 - US 160 Connection South Project. Work anticipated to take place in the coming weeks near the base of Farmington Hill will include:

  • Upgrades to multiple stormwater drainage inlets
  • Paving the eastbound shoulder and transition to the US 550 eastbound exit ramp
  • Removal of the temporary concrete barriers at the base of the previous US 550 alignment up Farmington Hill
  • Removing highway infrastructure leftover from the previous three-way intersection design including delineators, curbs and medians

Traffic Impacts

Traffic impacts on Tuesday, Sept. 3 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. include:

  • Eastbound lane shifts and brief 5 to 10 minute delays
  • Vehicles will be guided by flagging personnel and signs
  • A speed reduction will be enforced through the work zone
