CDOT crews perform CO 145 paving operations Sept. 3 to 12

Montezuma and San Miguel Counties - On Tuesday, Sept. 3, crews will begin two-week long surface treatment operations on a short segment of Colorado Highway 145, approximately 10 miles north of Dolores (Mile Points 21 to 23). Motorists traveling between Dolores and Telluride will encounter up to 20 minute delays, full stops and one-lane alternating traffic between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., following the holiday weekend.
CDOT crews will work as swiftly as possible to complete paving operations; however this work is weather dependent.
Traffic Impacts
Operations will take place Sept. 3 to 12. Daytime work hours will range from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding Labor Day. Traffic impacts include:
- Motorists should plan for up to 20 minute delays and should allow for extra travel time
- Vehicles will be guided by flagging personnel and signs
- Access in and out of intersections may be restricted at times
- A speed reduction of 40 mph will be enforced through the work zones

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.
- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
