Project Update

April 1, 2024 - Northwestern Colorado - Motorists should anticipate additional travel time Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eagle County — Crews will conduct work to reconstruct rockfall protection on US Highway 24 south of Minturn. Work and traffic impacts are anticipated to begin the week of April 1 and last through May 3. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, during 7:30 a.m.to 5 p.m. When work is underway, motorists should anticipate one-lane, alternating traffic. Motorists should plan for additional 20 minutes in travel time during work hours and alternating traffic. These impacts will take place at Mile Point 149, approximately four miles south of Minturn. Motorists and commuters from Leadville can also travel via Colorado Highway 91 and Interstate 70. The alternate route has a similar travel time.

The alternating traffic will allow for workers to safely work adjacent to US 24 eastbound lanes. The rockfall protection work is necessary for the section of roadway, which has a history of rockfall. Work in this area will continue in the coming months.
