Vital bridge work will require 8-hour closure of CO 14 on April 23

Logan County — An eight-hour closure of Colorado Highway 14 about 11 miles west of Sterling will be in place on April 23 to allow Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews to perform vital work to a bridge at Mile Point 224.
The closure will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a hard closure at the bridge and soft closure west at Colorado Highway 71 and east at CO 6. Detour will be CO 71 and CO 6. Local traffic will be allowed through the soft closure area.
Crews plan on finishing the work on April 23, but, if needed, the same closure will be set up April 24.

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.
- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
