US 160 is closed near the Four Corners

October 26, 2023 - Southwestern Colorado - No estimated time of re-opening

Southwest Colorado — US Highway 160 is closed in both directions near the Four Corners. The closure is due to the crash of a semi-truck that occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. The truck, carrying fuel, is on fire. It is not known when the highway will re-open. Travelers are advised to seek alternate routes.

Closure points are located at the US 160 and US 491 junction on the east end and at the US 160 and CO 41 junction on the west end.

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.

Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
Be patient!
