CO 239 to be closed north east of Trinidad
Travel Advisory
Trinidad, Hoehne — The Colorado Department of Transportation will replace a bridge northeast of Trinidad on CO 239 at Mile Point 1.68. A full five-day closure of CO 239, beginning on Monday, October 30, will be required to allow for the removal of the existing bridge, installation of the new concrete box culvert and paving of the roadway at the worksite. Bridge removal, xox culvert installation and paving operations are expected to be complete by Friday, Nov. 3.
Travel Impacts:
- Beginning on Monday, October 30 through Friday, November 3, motorists will encounter full closure of CO 239 at MP 1.68.
- Local residents will be detoured via El Moro Road to Interstate 25 and County Road 75.1 via County Road 32 to US Highway 160.
- The traveling public is urged to obey signage for detours, speed reductions and overweight/oversized restrictions. Motorists should use extreme caution through work zones and be aware of flaggers, maintenance workers and heavy equipment on and along the roadway.

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.
- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
