CDOT performs surface treatment on CO 21 / Powers Boulevard

November 13, 2023 - Southeastern Colorado - Motorists should plan for delays between Woodmen Road and Dublin Blvd beginning Tuesday, Nov. 14

El Paso Counties— The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform crack sealing operations on northbound and southbound CO Highway 21 (Powers Blvd) beginning Tuesday, Nov. 14. Work will occur between Dublin Boulevard and Woodmen Road.

Traffic Impacts

Operations will take place Nov. 14 through 16 and Nov. 19 through 20. Nighttime work hours will range from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Motorists should plan for slight delays, allowing extra travel time
Expect one-lane alternating traffic guided by signs and cones
Drivers should slow down and use extreme caution when approaching and driving through the work zone

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.

Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
Be patient!
