Plan for brief delays along CO 140
Travel Advisory
La Plata County — Motorists traveling CO 140 between La Plata, New Mexico and Red Mesa should plan for delays beginning Monday, November 27. Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews will perform three-day guardrail repairs at the Long Hallow Bridge, located approximately 4 miles north of the Colorado and New Mexico state line.
Crews will work swiftly to complete the repairs however, work is weather dependent.
Traffic Impacts
Daytime work hours range from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Wednesday.
- Motorists should plan for 10 to 15 minute delays and should allow for extra travel time
- Expect one-lane alternating traffic guided by signs, cones and flagging personnel
- Drivers should slow down and use extreme caution when approaching and driving through the work zone
- A speed reduction of 40 mph will be enforced through the work zones

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
