Rock mitigation on Ute Pass
Travel Advisory
El Paso County — Rock scaling work is taking place on US 24 next week, requiring traffic to be reduced to one lane in each direction between Manitou Springs and Cascade.
Beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m., Monday, June 26, through Thursday, June 29, traffic will be impacted as follows:
- Westbound US 24 closed and shifted to eastbound US 24
- Eastbound US 24 reduced to one lane in each direction
- Speed limit reduced from 55 mph to 35 mph
- Some side road traffic movements may be impacted at times
This traffic configuration is required to maintain safety for the traveling public as scaling takes place to remove loose rocks on the north side of the canyon above the highway.
