Westbound I-70 near C-470 reopened following a closure due to a tractor trailer hitting a bridge over the interstate
Travel Advisory
Jefferson County — Westbound I-70 reopened at 4:20 p.m. after being closed since around 11 a.m. today when a semi-truck carrying an oversized load hit the westbound C-470 bridge over I-70.
It took crews several hours to remove the truck that was stuck under the bridge. Once the truck was removed, CDOT inspectors assessed the structure and found damage to the outside edge of the bridge. CDOT determined westbound I-70 under the bridge could be safely reopened until permanent repairs are made.
There will be a shoulder and a lane closure on the westbound C-470 bridge over I-70 to keep the weight of vehicles off the damaged area until repairs are made. The ramp from eastbound I-70 onto C-470 will remain closed.
