Ellston Street Closure Under I-25 in Colorado Springs December 26 thru December 29

Colorado Springs — The Colorado Department of Transportation and contracting partner, SEMA Construction, will close Ellston Street under I-25 Tuesday, Dec. 26 to Friday, Dec. 29. to begin the removal and reconstruction of the aging bridge structure. Sinton Trail and the sidewalk at Ellston and Chestnut streets will be closed with flaggers present.
Traffic Detour
A detour route will be in effect during the construction work.
- Eastbound Ellston St. traffic will head north on Chestnut St. and take a right, heading East, on Garden of the Gods Road, then taking a right onto Sinton Road and heading South.
- Westbound Ellston St. traffic will head north on Sinton Rd. then west on Garden of the Gods Rd. and south on Chestnut St.

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
