CDOT performs month-long crack seal operations on CO 149

Rio Grande & Mineral Counties— Month-long surface treatment repairs are scheduled to be completed on a twelve mile segment of CO 149. Beginning Monday, December 18, Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews will perform crack sealing operations approximately 10 miles north of South Fork, Mile Points 10 to 22. Daytime work hours will range from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Crews will perform work as weather conditions allow through mid-January. Work is weather permitting.
Traffic Impacts
Operations will take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Expect one-lane alternating traffic guided by signs, cones and flagging personnel
- A speed reduction of 40 mph will be enforced through the work zones
- Plan for full stops and brief 15-minute delays

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.
- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
