CDOT to complete surface treatment on CO 145 west of Society Drive in Telluride

San Miguel County — The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform paving operations on Colorado Highway 145 between Society Drive and Mountain Village Boulevard beginning next Tuesday, Sept. 5. Motorists should plan for full stops and up-to 30 minute delays, Tuesday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Earlier this summer, CDOT crews paved a short segment of CO 145 between Lawson Hill and Mountain Village and now they will work as swiftly as possible to finish the surface treatment. Operations are weather dependent.
Traffic Impacts
- Daytime work hours range from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday
- Motorists should plan for up to 30-minute delays and allow for extra travel time
- Vehicles will be guided by cones, signs and flagging personnel
- Access in and out of intersections may be restricted at times
- A speed reduction of 40 mph will be enforced through the work zones

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.
- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
