Traffic to be impacted on the northbound I-25 on-ramp at North Academy Boulevard on Sept. 21

Travel Advisory

September 19, 2022 - Southeastern Colorado - Paving operations will occur during nighttime hours

El Paso County - The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor SEMA Construction will temporarily close the N. Academy Blvd. on-ramp to northbound I-25 during nighttime hours for paving operations on Wednesday.

Project Overview

The I-25 ramp metering project will widen ramps and install ramp metering along I-25 and the southbound Woodmen Rd. on-ramp, northbound and southbound Academy Blvd. on-ramps, and northbound North Gate Rd. on-ramp.

The project will enhance safety for Colorado’s traveling public. The construction of the widening and ramp-metering devices will make the road safer by improving traffic flow and safety by providing more gaps for merging traffic, provide automated monitoring and will be triggered by I-25 average running speed. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology will also be installed which includes video cameras, computers, vehicle detection, variable message signs, and alternate routing.
