US 50 paving operations in Pueblo County will require left turn lane closure tonight

October 13, 2022 - Southeastern Colorado -

Pueblo County - The Colorado Department of Transportation, along with contractor Martin Marietta, will have a temporary nighttime closure of all left turn lanes at the intersection of US 50 and Baxter Road to accommodate paving operations. Message boards will be in place notifying the traveling public of this closure. The closure for milling and paving operations will take place Oct. 13 from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. This is part of the overall paving project on US 50 between Bonforte Boulevard and Avondale Boulevard.

Traffic Impacts

Impacts motorists will encounter on Oct. 13 include:

  • Thursday Night (10/13) from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
    • US 50 left lane closure at Baxter road. Baxter Rd will be closed to left turns onto US 50 and westbound traffic on US 50 will not be able to turn left onto Baxter Rd.

Traffic fines will be doubled in the work zone. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zones, drive with caution, allow extra space between vehicles and give themselves extra travel time.

  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
