Career opportunities available in the Denver Metro Area at CDOT

Denver – The Colorado Department of Transportation is hosting a career fair in the Denver Metro Area this Saturday, June 11 from 8 a.m. to noon in Aurora (location listed below) for permanent and temporary full-time and part-time highway maintenance personnel.
Positions are available across the Denver Metro Area including Arvada, Aurora, Black Hawk, Brighton, Castle Rock, Commerce City, Denver, Dillon, Eisenhower Tunnel, Empire, Franktown, Golden, Greenwood Village, Idaho Springs, Kittredge, Littleton, Morrison, Straight Creek, Strasburg and Thornton.
CDOT maintenance careers provide a rewarding opportunity to serve the state of Colorado in a role where every day brings new possibilities and the chance to learn a variety of skills. CDOT maintenance team members are essential to the safety of the traveling public. New hires will go through CDOT’s robust Maintenance Academy training program to learn the ins and outs of the job and obtain a CDL if they don't already have one. A variety of positions are available for hire including:
CDL Highway Maintenance Specialists & Temps
- Requires a CDL A or B
- Must have 2 years of experience in labor and/or equipment operation
- Position may be in maintenance or traffic (signing, striping, etc.)
Temporary Highway Maintenance Trainees
- CDOT will help with CDL once hired
- Must be at least 18 with valid regular driver’s license
- Some experience in labor and/or equipment operation preferred, but not required
Temporary & Permanent Equipment Mechanics
- CDL license required for these positions, but CDOT will help with CDL once hired
Permanent positions include full benefits (worth an average of $16,669 per year) and promotional opportunities. CDOT also allows the heavy equipment requirement to be gained by driving a forklift or bus. In addition, certain positions and locations offer a housing stipend. Colorado residency is NOT required for permanent or temporary employees at the time of application. All positions include paid sick leave.
Temporary seasonal positions generally last up to nine months. However, seasonal workers can apply for full-time maintenance positions based on experience gained while in the temporary position.
