Military Access, Mobility & Safety Improvement Project - Week of Jan. 9
Traffic Advisory
COLORADO SPRINGS — Starting the week of January 9, Colorado Department of Transportation and Contractor SEMA Construction, Inc. will have a lane closure to shift northbound I-25 traffic between Mile Point 127 to 135 to eight feet to the outside. This will allow crews to set barrier along the inside lanes to get ready to place southbound traffic on a future traffic switch. Crews will also install striping, lane shift advance warning signs, pave at the various emergency pullouts and set additional barriers. Commuters can expect a lane shift on northbound I-25 beginning at MP 128.5 and continuing to MP 135. Crews will also install a bypass pipe at Dry Wash (MP 128.34) and Clover Ditch (MP 131.2), saw cut the bridge decks, remove bridge guardrail and bridge overhangs. Traffic switches were done on Tuesday, January 4 to accommodate this work. On Monday, January 10 there will also be daytime shoulder closures eastbound and westbound on South Academy Boulevard to allow crews to set barriers. Expect possible traffic delays. Wednesday, January 12 and Thursday, January 13, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., there will be a right lane closure southbound I-25 to allow crews to install barriers.
A Courtesy Patrol will be driving the work zone starting Thursday, January 13. Hours of operation will be 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and holidays. They can be contacted at 719-820-3477.
