CDOT will begin repairs to a bridge on CO 7 over North Saint Vrain Creek in Lyons on Aug. 22

Travel Advisory

August 17, 2022 - Northeastern Colorado - Two-way traffic over the bridge will be down to one lane, managed by temporary traffic signals. No closures will be in place over the Labor Day Weekend

Boulder County – Starting on Aug. 22, the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin repairs to a bridge on CO 7 over North Saint Vrain Creek in the town of Lyons. These bridge repairs are part of an existing project to rehabilitate two bridges in Boulder County. Work on the first bridge, on CO 157 just south of Diagonal Highway over the BNSF Railroad in Boulder began in early July.

The work on the Lyons bridge includes repairing the bridge deck, replacing the sidewalks, and adding abutment protection riprap as a scour countermeasure. Bridge scour occurs when fast-moving water removes sediment from around the bridge foundation, leaving behind scour holes which can compromise the bridge’s structural integrity.

During the first phase of this work, crews will replace the sidewalks and make bridge deck repairs. This is expected to last for approximately four weeks. Work will begin on the northbound (east side) of the bridge and switch to the southbound (west side) once the east side is complete. Two-way bridge traffic will be down to one lane, managed by temporary traffic signals. The second phase of work consists of scour removal and riprap protection with no traffic impacts to CO 7. This work will last for about three weeks.

Over Labor Day weekend, from noon on Friday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 5, two-way bridge traffic will be restored. No lane closures, restrictions or traffic signals will be activated within the project limits during this time.
