Cable rail and guardrail to be installed on I-70 near Silt and New Castle
Travel Advisory
Garfield County — The Colorado Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Siete, Inc., will install cable rail and guardrail on Interstate 70 starting in early April. Work will take place on I-70 starting at Silt (exit 97) and moving east. The project will begin with cable barrier installation between Mile Point 97 and MP 99. Crews will then install guardrail from MP 102 to MP 108, near New Castle. Work began the week of April 4 and is anticipated to be complete in November 2022. Motorists should plan for 5 minutes additional travel time when driving through the project. The cable rail and guardrail upgrades along the corridor will significantly improve motorist safety on I-70.
