Full weekend closure of Steele Street over I-70 starts Sept. 17

DENVER — As part of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Central 70 Project, Steele Street, between 46th North and South avenues, will close in both directions from 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17, to 5 a.m., Monday, Sept. 20 for bridge work, which includes paving and waterproofing. 

Traffic Impacts

  • Full closure of Steele Street over I-70  – 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17, to 5 a.m., Monday, Sept. 20 - 

    • Southbound motorists will detour to 48th Avenue headed east, then turn right onto southbound Colorado Boulevard and finally turn right onto eastbound 40th Avenue to reconnect with Steele Street.

    • Northbound motorists will turn right onto westbound 40th Avenue, then turn left onto northbound Colorado Boulevard and finally turn left onto westbound 46th North Avenue to reconnect with Steele Street/Vasquez Boulevard.

About the Central 70 Project

The Central 70 Project will reconstruct a 10-mile stretch of I-70, add one new Express Lane in each direction, remove the aging 57-year-old viaduct and lower the interstate between Brighton and Colorado boulevards.
