Timber Bridge preservation project to begins this week

WELD & PHILLIPS COUNTIES – The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin construction on the Timber Bridge preservation project in Weld and Phillips counties near Haxtun and Keenesburg the week of Dec. 6. 

This bridge maintenance project has two locations, on Colorado Highway 52 south of Keenesburg at Mile Point 32.83, and on CO 59 south of Haxtun at MP 139.75. Myers and Sons has been selected for the project, with work expected to be completed in January. 

Work on the CO 59 Haxtun bridge location will begin Dec. 6 and will consist of installation of sister beams and reinforcements for the bridge. Traffic impacts on this bridge location will include speed reductions and periodic traffic stops.

The CO 52 Keenesburg bridge location will begin Jan. 10 and includes complete deck removal, installation of sister beams, and placing a new concrete deck and paving over it. Work on the CO 52 Keenesburg bridge location will be performed 24 hours a day and will require a full road closure beginning Jan. 9 after 10 p.m. through Jan. 15 at 4 a.m. Traffic will be diverted to County Road 51, CR 10, and CR 53. These improvements will provide a safer and more secure bridge for traffic to utilize.
