I-25 North Express Lanes Project will have daytime closure of southbound lane of I-25 Friday

BERTHOUD — On Friday, Feb. 21, there will be a daytime single right lane closure on southbound I-25 from south of Colorado Highway 56 to just past the I-25 bridge over Little Thompson River for restriping. The lane closure is expected to last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Expect delays and plan accordingly.

Construction is weather-dependent and subject to change.

TRAVEL IMPACTS

Construction on the I-25 North Express Lanes Project: Berthoud to Johnstown is currently taking place on southbound I-25 on the I-25 bridge over Little Thompson River (near CO 56). Construction will typically take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with occasional nighttime lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists should expect speed reductions to 65 mph, minor lane shifts, temporary concrete barriers and median bridge work. Motorists should also expect delays during the scheduled work hours. Construction on the Berthoud to Johnstown piece is expected to be complete in 2023.

REMEMBER: SLOW FOR THE CONE ZONE

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.

  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.

  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.

  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.

  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.

  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.

  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.

  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.

  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.

  • Be patient!
