Note: this work was originally scheduled for early May and delayed to May 22 due to weather
METRO DENVER AREA — A project to replace signs on various roadways in the Denver metro region will require the following closures for crews to remove sign structures that span across the highway:
WEDNESDAY NIGHT, MAY 22 – All lanes of westbound I-70 west of Wadsworth Blvd. are scheduled to be closed. This operation will also require a single left-lane closure on eastbound I-70. Lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday. To navigate this closure, motorists will follow the suggested detour routes:
-
Westbound I-70 traffic will exit at (271A) towards Sheridan Blvd, be rerouted to either 44th Ave or 58th Ave and access the highway at Kipling St
-
Northbound Wadsworth Boulevard headed towards I-70 will be detoured to 44th Avenue and Kipling St
-
Southbound Wadsworth Boulevard headed towards I-70 will be detoured to 58th Avenue and Kipling St
-
Westbound I-76 traffic will not be allowed to access I-70 at Wadsworth, and will be detoured onto either 44th Ave or 58th Ave
The closures are required for the safety of motorists and crews during the removal of the overhead signs.
CDOT urges motorists to slow for the cone zone, use caution near the project area, avoid distractions, and obey the posted signs. These activities are weather dependent, and this schedule may change.
