US 36 closed early July 17 as crews move fiber optic cables

July 16, 2019 -

WESTMINSTER—From midnight to 3 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, CDOT will close both directions of US 36 from 104th Avenue/Church Ranch Boulevard to Wadsworth Boulevard to move a fiber optic cable that serves multiple local entities.

Crews needs to move the cable because it's inside the damaged area of US 36. Motorists will need to take an alternate route during this time. A detour will be in place and traffic will be rerouted. Once the work is complete, traffic will resume the new traffic shift put in place the morning of July 16.

Whole System, Whole Safety

To heighten safety awareness, CDOT recently announced its Whole System, Whole Safety initiative. This project takes a systematic statewide approach to safety combining the benefits of CDOT’s programs that address driving behavior, our built environment and the organization's operations. The goal is to improve the safety of Colorado's transportation network by reducing the rate and severity of crashes and improving safety conditions for those traveling by all transportation modes. The program has one simple mission: to get everyone home safely.
