Right-In/Right Out Intersection Changes on US 24 at Judge Orr and Blue Gill Roads

January 29, 2019 - Southeastern Colorado

Colorado Springs- Colorado Department of Transportation will be installing flexible delineators within the current painted median on US 24, west of Judge Orr Road. The purpose of the delineators will be restricting WB to SB left hand turns onto Blue Gill Road. The goal is right-in/ right-out only access to Blue Gill Road.

Both intersections of US-24, at Judge Orr Road and Blue Gill Road, have raised some safety concerns, as the number of crashes has risen. Westbound motorists are using the eastbound turn lane to make left hand turns onto Blue Gill Road. This movement h backs up traffic on Judge Orr Road, not only creating congestion, but also an increased potential for crashes.

CDOT maintenance crews will be installing the delineators within the next 30 days. Construction is anticipated to take place overnight for minimal traffic impacts.

This modification could be temporary in preparation for a full reconfiguration of the entire intersection to further ensure the safety of motorists traveling this route.
