COLORADO SPRINGS — During the week of February 4, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor partner, Wildcat Construction Company, Inc., will continue construction at the intersections of US 24 at 31st Street and US 24 at Ridge Road, near Old Colorado City in Colorado Springs.

Barrier and final guardrail work will occur starting on February 11, continuing for two weeks. This work will allow the removal of all concrete barriers currently along the median both eastbound and westbound US 24, west of 31st St. The new signal poles and arms are expected to begin installation March 29 and be complete by mid- April. Final completion of striping will be done by late April.

The Midland Trail, running alongside US 24, is now open between 31st Street and Ridge Road. When using the trail to get to Manitou Springs from Ridge Road, cross over to the south side of Colorado Avenue, take 36th Street west on Pikes Peak Avenue, and follow Pikes Peak Avenue to El Paso Street.

The Midland Trail crossing at 31st Street and US 24 is not yet accessible to pedestrians. Pedestrians are encouraged to cross 31st St. north of the trail at Colorado Avenue.

Daytime work is expected on this project until signal pole installation, which will include overnight work. The project is anticipated to be complete in Spring 2019.
