Early Morning Avalanche Control Work set for US 50 Monarch Pass

Jan. 21, 2019 - Travelers can expect delays beginning at 6:00 a.m.

SOUTH-CENTRAL COLORADO ― The Colorado Department of Transportation is warning motorists in south central Colorado that they will encounter two lengthy delays if traveling on US Highway 50 Monarch Pass early tomorrow morning, Friday, January 25.

US 50 MONARCH PASS CLOSURE SCHEDULE:

Highway closed: 6:00 – 7:30 a.m. During this one-and-a-half-hour closure, eastbound traffic will be stopped near Sargents, mile point (MP) 190. Westbound traffic will be stopped near Maysville, MP 209.5. There will be no access to the ski area.

Highway fully open: 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.

Highway closed: 8:30 – 10 a.m. During this second one-and-a-half-hour closure, eastbound traffic will again be stopped near Sargents, mile point (MP) 190. Westbound traffic will be stopped west of the ski area at accommodate traffic to the resort.

Please note these delays may last longer should unusual circumstances arise.
