Full overnight closures of Peoria Street under I-70
DENVER– As part of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Central 70 Project, both directions of Peoria Street will close at night under I-70 this weekend so crews can safely set bridge beams on the widened I-70 bridge structure crossing Peoria Street. This closure will be in place from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m., Friday, April 5 through Sunday, April 7, with no overnight closures on Sunday.
During this closure, motorists will still be able to utilize the on-and off-ramps to and from I-70. Only right turns will be permitted from the off-ramps as access to Peoria Street underneath I-70 will be restricted. There will be intermittent overnight lane closures on I-70 during this operation.
To navigate this closure, northbound drivers on Peoria Street will travel west on 33rd Avenue, north on Moline Street, west on Smith Road, north on Havana Street, then east on 47th Avenue until reaching Peoria Street. Southbound drivers on Peoria Street will be detoured via the westbound on-ramp to I-70, exit to Havana Street, turn south and use the eastbound I-70 on-ramp, then travel east, exiting at Peoria Street.
Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
Nighttime closures can be particularly dangerous. Motorists are urged to be mindful of closure points and signage and drive slow in the area.
