Ruxton Avenue Re-Opened at Manitou Avenue Following Storm-Damage Repairs
MANITOU SPRINGS—On Saturday, Sept. 15, crews re-opened Manitou Avenue (US Highway 24 Business) after repairing the Ruxton Avenue box culvert.
The culvert was damaged during mid-July storms that caused crews to issue a six-week closure of a two-block section of the highway. Sidewalk improvements will be completed this coming week.
Ribbon Cutting
At 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, the City of Manitou Springs and CDOT invite the public to attend a ribbon cutting at the roundabout between Manitou and Ruxton avenues. Speakers include CDOT, Manitou Springs Mayor Ken Jaray, Manitou Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Leslie Lewis, and local business representatives.
The project required a full closure of Manitou Avenue between Ruxton and Park avenues to enable CDOT and contractor Wildcat Construction to replace the damaged structure with a 55-foot box culvert under Ruxton Avenue.
