CO 60 Bridge Replacement Over South Platte Starts Oct. 1
Sept. 26, 2018 - Expect Late-October, Temporary Detour in Both Directions
WELD COUNTY—On Monday, Oct. 1, travelers on Colorado Highway 60 will be detoured off the road as crews start replacing a bridge over the South Platte River (from mile points mile points 15.36 to 16.22).
This $6.7 million work will promote safety by creating smoother driving conditions and replacing the current 790-foot-long structure, with a new and wider bridge.
Schedule & Travel Impacts
- Work hours: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, through May 2019
- Work will occur in three phases, to minimize traffic impacts:

Phase 1: Setting up the detour
Expect a speed-limit reduction to 40 mph and lane restrictions as crews set up the temporary detour. -
Phase 2: Moving traffic to temporary detour
In late October, traffic will be moved to the detour. Temporary signs will direct motorists. Please use caution while driving through the work area. -
Phase 3: Switching traffic to the new bridge
In spring 2019, crews will move traffic to the new bridge. They will continue minor road work, and the speed limit reduction will remain in effect.
