Bridge Repair Project Starts Oct. 16 on CO 167 & CO 96 in Fowler & Boone

CROWLEY & PUEBLO COUNTIES—On Tuesday, Oct. 16, crews will begin making bridge repairs, upgrading ramps and making other improvements to Colorado Highways 167 and 96 in Fowler and Boone.

There will be two project zones:

  • Work will start at the bridge on CO 167 north of Fowler over the Arkansas River(mile points 0.88 to 0.96). Crews will also complete roadway surface overlay on CO 167 between CO 96—from mile point 0 to the railroad, at mile point 1.9, on the north side of town, and between Grant Avenue at mile point 2.5 to County Road JJ at mile point 4.86 on the south side of town.
  • Work will then be completed on CO 96—from mile point 68.6 at US 50 to the east side of town, at mile point 76.2.

Travel Impacts

  • Expect single-lane closures as crews pave on CO 96.
  • Bridge work on CO 167 north of Fowler over the Arkansas River will include 24/7, one-way, alternating single-lane traffic closures with temporary signals directing traffic at all times.
  • Work hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

Project Info

Work on this project will include bridge repairs, overlay work, and ADA ramp installation on CO 167, and repaving and appplying a protective coating on CO 96. Temperature dependent, crews plan to complete bridge work on CO 167 and ramp overlay operations on CO 96 by December 2018. In spring, crews will recommence overlay and paving work on CO 96 and CO 167. Work is expected to end in summer 2019.
