Expect icy Roads, Slow Monday Commute as Temperatures Drop Overnight
Nov. 11, 2018 - CDOT Crews Continue Full-Force Effort to Treat & Plow Roads
DENVER—CDOT crews have been working through the weekend to treat and plow roads along the Front Range, the foothills and higher elevations. While there has not been much snow accumulation on the roads, wet roads and dropping temperatures make for slick driving surfaces.
What to Know Through Monday Morning
- Slow down and drive to the conditions. What may look like a wet road could be an icy one.
- Bridges, overpasses and ramps tend to be slick.
- Give yourself extra time to reach your destination tonight and especially tomorrow for the morning commute.
- Give yourself plenty of room between your vehicle and the one ahead of you.
- Make sure you have winter-ready tires, and you and your vehicle are equipped for the weather.
- Don't crowd the plow. If you must pass one, do so on the left and with extreme caution.
- Avoid or limit driving on slick roads if you can.
- Know before you go and check out the latest road conditions at COtrip.org
Crews continue 24-hour operations—rotating 12-hour shifts&mdashluntil roads allow for normal driving conditions.
