Survey and Drilling Work on US 550 Red Mountain Pass to Cause Delays May 15-16

LA PLATA COUNTY—From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16, travelers can expect intermittent lane closures and 15- to 20-minute traffic stops on US Highway 550 as crews survey and drill to collect ground samples on the north side of Red Mountain Pass.

Work will be completed at two locations: at mile point (MP) 81, near the north side of the Pass summit; and at MP 90, about tow miles south of Ouray.

We urge travelers to obey signage and speed reductions through the work zone. Also be aware of flaggers, maintenance workers and heavy equipment on and along the roadway.
