Major Southbound I-25 Traffic Shift Beginning May 10
Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - PUEBLO —The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor Flatiron Constructors, Inc. are shifting traffic to a new configuration on southbound Interstate-25 by 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10 between City Center Drive and the Arkansas River. Traffic will be shifted east onto the new roadway into a temporary alignment.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, May 10, the southbound I-25 City Center Drive/Exit 98B on-ramp at will close, and reopen within a few weeks. Motorists wishing to access southbound I-25 at City Center Drive/Exit 98B will be detoured south, via Santa Fe Avenue to the Santa Fe I-25 southbound on-ramp.
The southbound I-25 Santa Fe Ave (US 50C)/Exit 98A off-ramp will also close, and will reopen in December 2018. Motorists wishing to exit southbound I-25 to Santa Fe Ave (US 50C) should exit at City Center Drive/Exit 98B.
These closures will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are necessary as part of the I-25/Ilex Design-Build project.
PROJECT INFORMATION: The I-25 Ilex Street to City Center Drive project is the first project of the New Pueblo Freeway: the reconstruction of I-25 between City Center Drive (1st Street) and Ilex Street through downtown Pueblo. Construction includes upgrading several bridges south of downtown. The project began in July 2015, and is scheduled to be complete by spring 2019.
