May 10, 2018 - CDOT on target to open Pass on May 24
PITKIN & LAKE COUNTIES—From Monday, May 14 through Thursday, May 17, crews will pave sections of Colorado Highway 82 Independence Pass to prepare to open the highway on Thursday, May 24. As a result, flaggers will turn away travelers—including pedestrians and cyclists—who try to access the pass.
Alternate Route
To get to Aspen, take I-70 to Glenwood Springs, and CO 82 into Aspen.
Note to Truckers
Due to tight curves, steep inclines and narrow lanes on some sections of the pass, commercial and recreational vehicles 35 feet or longer are prohibited.
