I-70 Glenwood Canyon Rockfall Fence Improvement Project Begins March 26

GARFIELD COUNTY—Beginning Monday, March 26, crews will begin rockfall fence improvements on I-70, east of Glenwood Springs from mile point (MP) 122 to MP 125.
The scope of work for this $1.5 million project will include removing six existing flex-post fences and replacing them with higher capacity rockfall fences. Crews will begin constructing the new rockfall barriers before removing the old damaged ones. The project has an anticipated completion date of August 2018.
Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Travel Impacts
Motorists can expect:
- a westbound right-lane closure;
- eastbound and westbound short-term traffic stops; and
- a reduced speed limit of 35 mph.
