US 50 One Lane Overnight Closure on July 5
PUEBLO COUNTY – Beginning Thursday, July 5, at 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, crews will close the left lane of westbound US Highway 50 from Mile Post 313.5 to the intersection of Pueblo Blvd. The overnight closure is needed for the safe relocation of the concrete traffic barrier currently in use on the project.
Crews will be using heavy equipment to move the concrete barrier from the south side of the westbound traveling lanes to the north side of the highway. Traffic will be directed on to a new alignment of the highway. This temporary highway alignment will be in place through fall 2018.
“This overnight traffic shift is a milestone on the project,” says Project Engineer, Steve Spera. “Friday morning, motorists will travel on a newly constructed section of the highway using one of the new bridges and the new off ramp”
When the lane is reopened, motorists should be aware of the changed traffic pattern over the newly constructed bridge at Pueblo Blvd. and back on to US 50.
No work on the project will take place on the July 4th Holiday.
During the July 5 overnight realignment work, one lane will remain open. Work zone speed will be reduced to 35 mph and traffic may be delayed. Motorists are advised to be aware of the new traffic pattern near Pueblo Blvd. and use always use caution when driving through a construction zone.
