US 50 Lane Closure set for Tonight

July 5, 2018 - Closure to prepare for traffic shift on Friday morning

PUEBLO COUNTY—From 9 tonight to 6 a.m. Friday, July 6, crews will close the left lane of westbound US Highway 50 from mile point 313.5 to the intersection of Pueblo Boulevard as they relocate a concrete traffic barrier.

Crews will be using heavy equipment to move the concrete barrier from the south side of the westbound lanes to the north side of the highway. Traffic will be shifted on to a new alignment of the highway. This temporary highway alignment will be in place through fall 2018.

"This overnight traffic shift is a milestone on the project," says Project Engineer Steve Spera. "Friday morning, motorists will travel on a newly constructed section of the highway using one of the new bridges and the new off ramp."

When the lane is reopened, expect a changed traffic pattern over the newly constructed bridge at Pueblo Boulevard, and back on to US 50.

During this work, one lane will remain open. The speed limite will be reduced to 35 mph and traffic may be delayed. Please be aware of the new traffic pattern near Pueblo Boulevard, and use always use caution when driving through a construction zone. This traffic switch is weather permitting.
