PROJECT INFORMATION: The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has initiated a bridge and driving surface preventative maintenance project on ten bare concrete bridges near the Interstate-25 Rockrimmon interchange that will improve safety and ride quality. This project is part of the ongoing CDOT Asset Management / Bridge Preventative Maintenance Program that began approximately ten years ago to extend the life of the state’s bridge structures to 75 years. Ten bridges, with bare concrete decks, will be maintained as part of this project. Bare concrete decks are more susceptible to deterioration. The bridge maintenance on the structures will include expansion joint replacement, waterproofing membrane installation, and installing asphalt overlays to protect and extend the life of the bridge decks. Driving surface preventative maintenance and safety improvements will also be addressed.
