Upcoming full closures of northbound and southbound I-25 ramp at westbound C-470
DOUGLAS COUNTY –– The Colorado Department of Transportation will conduct nighttime full closures of the northbound and southbound I-25 ramps at westbound C-470 on Monday, January 8 and Tuesday, January 9. CDOT and contractor partner, Flatiron | AECOM LLC, are taking advantage of the warmer weather early next week to relocate the existing merge from Yosemite to the I-25 interchange, and will implement a new striping configuration as part of the C-470 Express Lanes project. Closures will occur from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on both Monday and Tuesday.
Detours are approximately 4.16 miles, see map below.
- Northbound and southbound I-25 ramps to westbound C-470 detour: Take northbound E-470 to Peoria and back onto southbound E-470 to westbound C-470. No tolls will be charged during closure.
Follow detour signs accordingly and go slow for the cone zone.
Construction activities are weather dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
For motorists on C-470, courtesy patrol is provided Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to assist disabled vehicles at no cost to the driver.
More than 100,000 motorists currently use this segment of C-470 each day with volumes projected to increase 40 percent by 2035. Construction is scheduled for completion in spring 2019.
The $276 million C-470 Express Lanes project will increase mobility and user choice along 12.5 miles between I-25 and Wadsworth Boulevard. In the westbound direction, two additional Express Lanes will be built from I-25 to Colorado Boulevard and one additional Express Lane from Colorado Boulevard to Wadsworth. In the eastbound direction, one additional Express Lane will be constructed along the length of the project between I-25 and Wadsworth Boulevard. The project also includes full reconstruction of existing pavement, the addition of auxiliary lanes at selected locations, on- and off-ramp improvements, realignment of substandard curves, widening of existing bridges, replacing the bridges over the South Platte River, the installation of tolling equipment and new C-470 trail underpasses at Colorado and Quebec. When complete, motorists will have the option to use the Express Lanes on C-470 for a faster, more reliable commute in exchange for paying a toll, or drive the general purpose lanes for free. Completion is scheduled for2019.
