TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Motorists can expect major delays on northbound I-25 through Douglas County this Friday
DOUGLAS COUNTY – As part of Deputy Zackari Parrish’s procession, motorists can expect a rolling full closure on northbound Interstate 25 from Founders Parkway to Lincoln Avenue this Friday, January 5. The procession will start at approximately 8:45 a.m., beginning at Founders Parkway, and will end at approximately 12 p.m. at Lincoln Avenue. Full closures will be in place as the procession enters and exits I-25. Motorists can expect major delays throughout the I-25 corridor and surrounding roadways as a result of the closure.
There is expected to be at least 2,000 vehicles as part of the procession and will be moving at approximately 25 miles per hour. The Colorado Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that if they are not past Lincoln Avenue on I-25 by 8:30 a.m., they will likely be caught behind the rolling closure. Motorists should visit cotrip.org, call 5-1-1, or visit CDOT’s Facebook and Twitter pages to receive travel alerts.
Travelers from the Colorado Springs area will be able to take Colorado State Highway 83 to avoid the rolling closure, otherwise there is not another viable detour.
Emergency vehicles will be permitted to enter closure points.
