Avalanche Control Operations Set Today for US 50 Monarch Pass

SOUTH CENTRAL COLORADO—On Monday, Jan. 22, travelers on US Highway 50, Monarch Pass (west of Poncha Springs and Salida) can expect delays as CDOT conducts avalanche control operations. This work is intended to trigger potential snow slides just of east the summit and near the ski resort, between mile points 200 and 203.
Travelers will encounter intermittent delays of up to one hour from noon to 1:30 p.m.
