Top Five-Mile Segment of Mount Evans Highway to Close After Labor Day
Aug. 21, 2018 - Mount Evans to Close on Sept. 4
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY—On Tuesday, Sept. 4, crews will close the top five-mile segment of the Mount Evans Highway (Colorado Highway 5) at Summit Lake.
Because Labor Day Weekend is the busiest weekend of the year, visitors are encouraged to come before the final weekend. Motorists should expect heavy traffic, limited parking lots and lines on most weekends—especially during the holiday weekend. Wait times could be 30 minutes or longer on weekends. The best times to visit are during the week and mornings.
The road from Echo Lake to Summit Lake will remain open until Monday, Oct. 8, depending on weather conditions.
CO 5 is scheduled to re-open for the summer season the Friday before Memorial Day, weather permitting.
