Colorado Classic Underway Today
VAIL — Stage One of the Colorado Classic, a four-stage men and women’s professional bicycle race, begins today with a circuit through the Town of Vail. No impacts are anticipated to the state highway system.
The race route will travel between West Vail and East Vail. Lane and road closures begin at 9 a.m. and end at approximately 3:30 p.m. Drivers can expect closures on the Interstate 70 Frontage Road, Vail Valley Drive, Mill Creek and Forest Creek roads.
- Women’s race begins at approximately 10 a.m. and continues until about 11:35 a.m.

- Men’s race from approximately 12:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. (7 laps)
- Drivers should be prepared for lane and road closures and traffic shifts after exiting
Interstate 70 at the Town Center Interchange (Exit 176) and along the South Frontage
Road in the Town Center area.
The Colorado Classic continues through Sunday, Aug. 19, and CDOT’s website – www.cotrip.org - will be assisting motorists that use the various state and local roadways that travel on or intersect with the race route. Information will include road closure and opening times, anticipated delays and parking information. Please be aware that delay and closure times are estimates only and subject to change depending on the pace of the race, weather, and other unanticipated conditions.
