CDOT Completes Repairs on Nine Bridges Surrounding I-70/I-25 Interchange
Aug. 20, 2018 -
DENVER—CDOT has finished making repairs to nine bridges at the I-70 and I-25 interchange in Denver, work that will help extend the lifespan of each structure and that created a smoother driving surface.
"Although construction projects may be a temporary nuisance to drivers, this was a very important project for CDOT as traffic volumes on these nine bridges on I-70 and I-25 continue to increase," said Paul Jesaitis, CDOT Denver Metro region transportation director. "This project promotes the longevity and safety of the bridges in this area."
The I-70 and I-25 Bridge Repairs project started in June 2017. ABCO Contracting Inc. was the prime contractor for this $4.2 million project.
Work on these nine bridges included:
- repairing deteriorating bridge decks with new, polyester concrete, which is a highly durable, waterproof material intended to extend each bridges life;
- replacing expansion joints and damaged rails; and
- cleaning drains on each bridge.
