Two-day closure planned for U.S. 34D next week in east Greeley
GREELEY – US 34D Business Route (18th Street) will be closed for two days next week while crews place a new culvert for improved drainage. The road will be closed to through traffic in the work zone from 20th to 24th Street starting on Wednesday. It will reopen Friday morning. Access within this location will be available to residents only.
The posted detour route is to use US 85 or US 34.
The closure to add the new culvert is one part of a larger project which includes resurfacing of roughly three miles on US 34D (18th Street) starting at U.S. 85 and continuing to the southeast. Federal emergency efforts to mitigate flood damage from 2013 also is incorporated into the planned work with bridge repair at the location where U.S. 34D crosses the South Platte River.
The project is scheduled to last until November with a full closure from 24th Street to U.S. 34 expected in mid-June. Approximate timeframe is five months. A detour will be in place during that time.

Work on U.S. 34D began on March 5 with a completion date scheduled for November.

Normal working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. In special cases these hours may be extended.

Weekend work is not anticipated.

While work is underway, pedestrians and motorized vehicles should expect shoulder, sidewalk, lane and road closures.

Travelers can expect a full closure from 24th Street to U.S. 34 in June while work commences. A detour will be in place during that time. Approximate length of closure is five months. An additional shorter-term closure is scheduled for mid-May.
